Bermuda Pupillage (TS56)

Location:
  • Bermuda

Are you interested in becoming a lawyer at a top offshore law firm? Our Bermuda pupillage scheme offers the opportunity to become a member of the Bermuda Bar and practice in the jurisdiction as a qualified Barrister and Attorney. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that delivers world-class legal services to financial institutions, corporations, and private clients.

We have two potential schemes on offer :

Scheme 1

For those that have recently completed the LPC (or equivalent SQE exams) our program consists of a 2-year structured training plan where you will rotate through different teams, providing balanced, practical, experience in different areas of law (both contentious and non-contentious).

Scheme 2

For those looking to study their SQE and qualify whilst they earn, we are offering the opportunity to complete the SQE exams whilst you work with us. Successful applicants will receive:

  1. a basic salary;
  2. full sponsorship for study costs and exams fees whilst you undertake your 2-year rotational training program; and
  3. a generous study leave package to prepare for every exam.

Applications for Scheme 2 are invited from undergraduates in their final year of study, or those already holding a 2(I) degree.

What is the SQE?

A new route to qualification as a lawyer, the SQE is short for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, which can be studied for with any undergraduate degree. It is a two-part course, made up of the SQE 1 and the SQE 2.  Once you have completed the exams and 2 years' qualifying work experience, you will admitted as an England & Wales Solicitor.

Who can study for the SQE?

You can study for the SQE with any undergraduate degree. You do not need a Law degree. If you have already completed the LPC, you can claim an exemption for SQE 1.

What is Qualifying Work Experience?

Qualifying Work Experience is the work you carry out while training in Bermuda (usually whilst studying for the SQE).

Eligible applicants will either hold the LPC or SQE and have a strong academic record or will be studying for (or hold) a degree and on track for a 2. 1(Hons) degree.
