Carey Olsen wins restructuring and insolvency award from China Business Law Journal
Carey Olsen has won an international firm of the year award in the Restructuring and Insolvency category at the 2020 China Business Law Awards.
The annual awards, which are held by highly-respected Asian legal publication China Business Law Journal (CBLJ), are based on thousands of votes and recommendations from in-house counsel, senior corporate executives and legal professionals from around the world, as well as hundreds of submissions from Chinese and international law firms. The number of nominations and recommendations received this year reached a record high.
To determine the winning firms, CBLJ carefully evaluated each firm's landmark deals, cases and other notable achievements in the past year, in conjunction with the recommendations and comments the publication received.
Judges specifically referenced Carey Olsen's involvement in acting for the Petitioner in proceedings before the Supreme Court of Bermuda to secure the appointment of joint provisional liquidators over Hsin Chong Group, one of the oldest construction companies in Hong Kong SAR. The Carey Olsen team was led by Bermuda partner Keith Robinson and counsel Henry Tucker who relocated to Hong Kong in August 2019.
Carey Olsen partner James Noble, who leads the litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Asia, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and recognises the strength and calibre of the firm's insolvency and restructuring practice in Singapore and Hong Kong. It is also reflective of the significant growth that Carey Olsen has experienced over the last six months in response to the high levels of demand for our services."
