
20 Carey Olsen lawyers recognised in Chambers Global 2025 Guide
20 lawyers from Carey Olsen's Bermuda, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands offices have received individual rankings in the latest edition of the Chambers Global guide, with nine partners achieving promotions to a higher band. The firm also secured nine practice group rankings, including a new ranking for Real Estate in the Cayman Islands.
In Bermuda, Carey Olsen's Band 1 Dispute Resolution team has again earned top-tier recognition, with partner Keith Robinson maintaining his Band 1 ranking for a sixth consecutive year and partners Michael Hanson, Kyle Masters and Jay Webster moving up a band. Clients praise the team for its "wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the various aspects of our legal needs." In the Corporate & Finance rankings, partner Steven Rees Davies has moved up to Band 1, with Gavin Woods and Michelle Falcucci also being promoted this year. The firm's Insurance practice has maintained its strong ranking.
In the BVI, Carey Olsen has also maintained its strong rankings in Corporate & Finance and Dispute Resolution. In the commentary, the Corporate & Finance team has been described as "very experienced, with a good mix of onshore and offshore knowledge" and as "professional, approachable and pragmatic". The BVI Dispute Resolution team has been described as a "really great collection of talented litigators" and a "terrific team of advocates; they are eminently capable of handling complex cross-border litigation and insolvency matters".
BVI litigation partner Alex Hall Taylor KC has maintained his Band 1 ranking for Dispute Resolution, with clients noting he is "unquestionably the best litigation lawyer in the BVI" and "a first-rate advocate", while fellow litigator Simon Hall has moved up the rankings and is marked out as "commercially minded", "astute " and "very strong on the law". Corporate & Finance partner Clinton Hempel has been described as "knowing the industry and knowing the expectations of demanding lenders" with fellow ranked partner Elizabeth Killeen considered to be "an exceptional lawyer who has a very strong knowledge of BVI corporate and governance law".
Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands team continues to attract praise, earning practice rankings for Corporate & Finance, Dispute Resolution, Investment Funds and Real Estate, in addition to nine individual lawyer rankings. The Guide notes that the Cayman Corporate & Finance team "consistently demonstrate high levels of service and quick responsiveness. They also show a strong commitment to cost-effectiveness and consistently deliver excellent value in their services". This year also saw the firm achieve a new ranking in Real Estate, and partner Richard Sykes enter the rankings in the same category.
