20 lawyers from Carey Olsen's Bermuda, BVI and Cayman Islands offices ranked in Chambers Global 2023
20 lawyers from Carey Olsen's Bermuda, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands offices have received individual recognition in the latest edition of the Chambers Global guide, alongside eight practice group rankings.
The firm's Bermuda office has maintained its strong rankings in Corporate and Finance, Dispute Resolution and Insurance with one client stating, "Carey Olsen consistently performs at a top level in all areas of work" and "as a client you feel valued and cared for".
Bermuda partner Keith Robinson - who has been ranked in Chambers Global for ten years - has maintained his Band 1 ranking in Dispute Resolution for the fourth consecutive year. Keith has been praised as being "absolutely first-rate" and "one of the best on the island".
Gavin Woods is one of only two Bermuda based corporate lawyers to receive two rankings, having been recognised in both Corporate & Finance and Insurance. Gavin has been described as "first class" with a client commenting "he is always available, with outstanding commercial awareness and commitment to his clients".
In addition, Kyle Masters, who was promoted to partner in Bermuda in 2022, has entered the rankings for the first time. Kyle has been noted in the commentary as "a pleasure to deal with, he's super-responsive, has valuable insight and is technically savvy".
In the BVI, Carey Olsen has also maintained its strong rankings in Corporate and Finance and Dispute Resolution. In the commentary the BVI dispute resolution practice has been described as having "really great people across the board" and having "developed from being new kids on the block to one of the most effective firms in the BVI in a short space of time".
BVI partner Alex Hall Taylor KC has been promoted to a Band 1 ranking for Dispute Resolution, with the commentary describing him as "very good tactically and a good leader" and "hugely experienced and an incredible barrister". Tim Wright and Simon Hall have maintained their rankings, with Tim described as "a dynamic and energetic lawyer" and Simon as "excellent: very, very intelligent, reliable".
The firm's Cayman Islands practice continues its upward trajectory in Investment Funds with one client saying, "they continuously impress with their breadth of knowledge". In the Corporate and Finance rankings, one source commented "the work we did together was some of the most complex I've done in my career, and the firm handled it confidently and efficiently".
Seven of the firm's Cayman Islands based lawyers received individual recognition, including partner Nick Bullmore who is ranked in both Corporate & Finance and Investment Funds. Nick has been praised as being "great to work with - a very practical, result-oriented partner".
