Carey Olsen advises on over four times more Jersey-domiciled fund launches than nearest competitor
Carey Olsen advised on 52 Jersey-domiciled fund launches between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024 – which is over four times as many as the next Jersey law firm and 71% of all Jersey funds formed – the newly released 30th annual Monterey Insight Jersey Fund Report has confirmed.
The Report shows that Carey Olsen now advises 679 Jersey-domiciled funds and sub-funds, which is 252 more than the nearest Jersey law firm and secures the firm's sixth year straight as the leading legal adviser to Jersey-domiciled funds. This represents over 40% of the market by number of funds and over 36% of the market by client's aggregate assets under management.
Carey Olsen's Jersey investment funds practice partner, Robert Milner, commented: "It has been a busy year for our investment funds team in Jersey and Monterey Insight's latest report backs that up. On average, we launched a new fund every single week in addition to many co-investments, joint ventures and other transactions that aren't included in these stats.
"Our funds team now has six specialist partners covering all types of structure and asset class and our focus is firmly on finding new ways to solve problems for clients and for Jersey to enhance its position as a fund domicile. This outward-looking and active approach helps us stand out in the market as we retain our position as the number one choice for Jersey funds."
With the largest dedicated team of fund lawyers in the Channel Islands and one of the largest investment fund practices in the offshore legal space across five jurisdictions, Carey Olsen is consistently ranked Tier 1 for investment funds in The Legal 500, Chambers UK and IFLR1000.
