High praise for Carey Olsen's Bermuda, BVI and Cayman Islands practices in Legal 500 Caribbean
Sixteen lawyers from across Carey Olsen's Bermuda, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands offices have been recognised in the 2022 edition of The Legal 500 Caribbean.
In addition to those individually recognised, which includes seven as Leading Individuals, the firm is ranked in 16 different practice areas by the highly respected legal directory.
Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited, which has improved its ranking in four practice areas, is now ranked Tier 1 for trusts/private client and in Tier 2 for all other practice areas – banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; dispute resolution; insurance/reinsurance; and regulatory and compliance. The firm's lawyers are described within this year's commentary as 'technically excellent, commercially practicable, reliable and generally a pleasure to work with', while another industry source said they 'offer first-class client care and are ultra-responsive'.
In the BVI, Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation team has improved its ranking and is noted for 'building up a collection of some of the most talented litigators in the BVI market' and for its 'excellent and intellectual drafting and legal skills coupled with top advocacy capability'. The BVI office is also ranked in the categories for banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; and regulatory and compliance.
Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office is ranked in six categories, including trusts/private client where the firm is considered to be 'undoubtedly one of the strongest private client firms in Cayman'. Similarly, the dispute resolution and litigation team is noted for its 'cross-jurisdictional capabilities, which have resulted in an uptick in instructions from Asia' and how it is 'especially skilled in the fields of restructuring and insolvency'. The office is also ranked in the categories for banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; investment funds; and regulatory and compliance.
