Carey Olsen adds another new partner to its growing offshore dispute resolution practice in Hong Kong

Carey Olsen is pleased to announce that Matthew Watson has joined the firm's offshore dispute resolution and litigation practice in Hong Kong SAR as a partner – the second partner hire for the team this month.
Matthew, who has been based at other leading offshore law firms in Bermuda since 2015, has relocated to Hong Kong with Carey Olsen. Whilst in Bermuda, Matthew regularly advised on many complex contentious cases, often of a cross-border nature. Matthew's practice primarily focusses on acting for high-net-worth clients and major corporations in insolvency and restructuring contexts, and trust and estate litigation. Matthew also has an array of commercial litigation experience such as acting in director and shareholder disputes, as well as banking, insurance, tax information exchange matters, and assisting private clients with professional negligence and matrimonial matters. Prior to relocating to Bermuda, Matthew qualified and practiced in Australia.
Matthew is highly ranked in leading legal directories Chambers and the Legal 500, where he has been described as, "an absolute delight to work with: incredibly hard-working, excellent commercial brain, superb attention to detail and a first-rate lawyer." Matthew's appointment marks the second new partner this month for Carey Olsen's Hong Kong dispute resolution and litigation team, following the recent appointment of Tim Haynes.

Matthew was first admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2010 and later to the Federal Courts of Australia in 2015. He was admitted to the Bermuda Bar in 2017.
