凯瑞奥信 (Carey Olsen) 新加坡办公室的律师成为首批获得新加坡破产从业者协会 (IPAS) 会员资格的离岸从业者
Carey Olsen partner James Noble and senior associate Amelia Tan have become the first offshore law practitioners to be approved as members of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore (IPAS).
凯瑞奥信合伙人詹诺倍 (James Noble) 和高级律师陈静仪 (Amelia Tan) 是新加坡破产从业者协会 (IPAS) 批准的首批离岸法律从业者。
Founded in 2005, there are currently 63 associate members of IPAS, which is widely considered to be the leading representative body for insolvency practitioners in Singapore.
The association supports and advances the status of insolvency professionals in the jurisdiction and provides members with opportunities for further learning and professional development through seminars, workshops, conferences and qualifications. IPAS also aims to protect the character of the insolvency profession by setting standards, advocating professional codes of conduct and watching over the introduction of any new legislation or other measures that would affect practitioners.
The body thoroughly examines the knowledge, experience and character of candidates for admissions as an associate or fellow and, of the 63 members, James and Amelia are the first offshore practitioners to gain membership.
James and Amelia said of their associateship: "We are honoured to be accepted as members of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore which is a leading professional body in this area. By joining the association, we hope to develop the understanding of offshore legal services within the membership as its first ever offshore representatives."
James, who leads Carey Olsen's litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Asia, advises on Cayman, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Bermuda law, and is the only Cayman and BVI admitted litigator in Singapore. A specialist in complex and high value shareholder litigation, asset recovery, cross-border enforcement and insolvency, James has over 20 years' experience working in a wide variety of matters.
Amelia, a key member of the litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in Singapore, has a broad range of experience in commercial litigation, with a focus on complex, multi-jurisdictional shareholder related litigation, corporate disputes and insolvency and restructuring matters.
Carey Olsen's global restructuring and insolvency practice covers Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey law from offices in those locations as well as in Singapore, Hong Kong SAR and London. James and Amelia's associateship to the IPAS follows the recent news that Carey Olsen has been ranked in the top 40 of this year's Global Restructuring Review (GRR) 100, an independent guide to the world's leading law firms for cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters.
