Carey Olsen reaccredited as a STEP Platinum Employer

Carey Olsen's trusts and private wealth practice in the Channel Islands has been reaccredited as a Platinum Employer Partner by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

STEP's Employer Partnership Programme is designed as a benchmark of quality for businesses in the trusts and estates industry and signals a firm's investment in employees' professional development and for providing a nurturing work environment.

Carey Olsen was the first offshore law firm accredited a Platinum Employer Partner in 2016 – the highest standard achievable through the industry association's Employer Partnership Programme. The firm also maintained the standard in 2019 as part of STEP's three-year review cycle.

Reaccreditation is awarded following a rigorous review process that includes presenting evidence that learning and development initiatives and opportunities are championed at every level of the business and that the firm has a progressive and supportive approach to learning. Carey Olsen has also demonstrated that performance management is a continual process and employees are recognised and rewarded for their efforts.

Carey Olsen counsel Laila Arstall in conjunction with the firm's HR department led the reaccreditation process on behalf of the firm.

Russell Clark, managing partner and head of Carey Olsen's trusts and private wealth group in Guernsey, said: "The STEP Employer Partnership Programme is the go-to industry accreditation in the fiduciary space for demonstrating an employer's support and commitment to its staff and their professional development, and we're over the moon to have once more achieved the highest accreditation standard available. As a firm, we place an emphasis on training, guidance and supervision, and going through this programme to ensure we maintain the necessary standards in these areas across our Guernsey and Jersey trusts and private wealth teams is always a very worthwhile exercise."

Jenni Hutchinson, head of employer partnerships for STEP, added: "It is a pleasure to reaccredit Carey Olsen as a Platinum Employer Partner for a further three years. One of STEP's earliest Employer Partners, Carey Olsen has consistently demonstrated that it sees employee development and progression as critical for business success, and invests accordingly. Employees are encouraged and supported by colleagues at all levels within an excellent culture where employee wellbeing is nurtured and success is widely celebrated."
