Carey Olsen raises more than £60,000 for two Jersey charities

Staff at Carey Olsen have raised £60,900 for two Jersey charities – Jersey Hospice Care and Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA).

The charities, which were chosen by staff in the Jersey office to benefit from the firm's fundraising activities for the past three years, were each presented with a cheque last week from the firm's Jersey Charities Committee. Fundraising activity over the past year has included a charity quiz night, cakes sales and bakes offs, a fundraising soup kitchen and summer salad bar, scratch cards and sponsored challenges to name a few. The partners of the firm have also made an annual donation.

Victoria Connolly, counsel at Carey Olsen, and member of the Jersey Charities Committee said: "The Carey Olsen Jersey Charities Committee are delighted to have been able to support the JSPCA and Jersey Hospice Care (Children and Young Persons Project) with our fundraising over the past three years.  As we are all too well aware, the pandemic was a challenging period for charities and their fundraising efforts, so we are delighted that we have been able to support them in this way."

The Carey Olsen Jersey Charities Committee is part of the firm's wider corporate social responsibility programme to support the community in Jersey through local sport, music and the arts. Since the programme began in 2013, the Charities Committee has raised almost £170,000 for Jersey charities with fundraising support previously going to Jersey Alzheimer's Association, Jersey Stroke Association, the Royal National Lifeboat Institutions, Friends of Special Care Baby Unit and Family Nursing & Home Care.

Jersey staff have voted to support Grace Trust Jersey and Dementia Jersey for the next two years, and fundraising has already started with football cards and a soup kitchen.
