The key provisions of the ROE came into force on 1 August 2022. The deadline for all overseas entities owning UK land to have an overseas entities registration number (OEID) by 1 February 2023 is fast approaching.
The complexity of the analysis of what needs to be registered in the case of multi-layered trust and foundation structures has been overlooked or underestimated. A significant number of applications have been rejected.
Given the criminal sanctions for getting it wrong which apply to advisers and the overseas entities and its officers, Natasha Kapp, will look at what Trustees need to consider.
