Carey Olsen Singapore counsel Amelia Tan is speaking at the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore's (IPAS) webinar titled "Navigating Offshore Disputes and Insolvencies: Demystifying the Unknown" on Tuesday 6 August 2024, as part of their professional development programme for all insolvency practitioners.

The webinar is designed for all, regardless of level of experience, who may deal with matters involving offshore entities, specifically in the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. Legal practitioners, insolvency professionals, in-house counsel and bankers with an interest in this topic are encouraged to attend given the prevalent use of offshore structures in cross-border deals.

The training will cover the following topics:

  1. Uncovering information about assets, directors and shareholders of offshore (BVI, Cayman Islands) entities
  2. Interim measures available in the offshore jurisdictions in aid of foreign (onshore) proceedings
  3. Overview of key insolvency and restructuring processes in the offshore jurisdictions
  4. The role of arbitration clauses in offshore insolvency and just and equitable winding up proceedings
  5. Recognition and enforcement of foreign insolvency proceedings in the offshore jurisdictions
