Carey Olsen strengthens BVI litigation team in London

Carey Olsen has expanded its British Virgin Islands (BVI) dispute resolution and litigation practice in London with partner Tim Wright relocating from the BVI and senior associate Greg O'Keefe-Davis joining the firm.

Tim and Greg join BVI partner Richard Brown who has been based in Carey Olsen's London office for over five years. Carey Olsen's London-based litigation team now includes six BVI qualified lawyers, making it one of the largest in the city. The London team work closely with the firm's sizeable litigation team based in the BVI, led by partner Alex Hall Taylor KC.

Before relocating to London, Tim practised BVI law within Carey Olsen's dispute resolution and litigation team in the BVI. He has eight years of experience in the BVI and more than 15 years of onshore and offshore experience on high-profile and complex cross-border litigation and insolvency cases, having worked on all elements of shareholder and company disputes, cross-border fraud and asset tracing, injunctions, trusts, insolvency and restructuring. Tim is a qualified solicitor and barrister with considerable advocacy experience. He is ranked for Dispute Resolution by Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500, in addition to featuring in Who's Who Legal for Asset Recovery.

Greg joined Carey Olsen in London this month, returning from BVI with five years of experience in the litigation and insolvency practice of another law firm in the BVI. He advises on all aspects of commercial litigation and corporate insolvency, with a focus on high-value, cross-border insolvencies and restructuring, in addition to high-value contentious probate and trust disputes. As a solicitor-advocate in the BVI, Greg regularly appeared in the Civil and Commercial Divisions of the BVI High Court and has also appeared in the Court of Appeal, in addition to running appeals up to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Tim Wright said: "Greg and I are extremely proud to be a part of Carey Olsen's market-leading BVI practice and look forward to working alongside new and existing clients here in London. As a firm, we recognise the need to advise clients from across different time zones, and so in London we can support the continued demand for our BVI litigation and dispute resolution services in the UK and Europe, while our many years of direct on-the-ground experience in the BVI offers a valuable new perspective that distinguishes us from other firms."

Carey Olsen was one of the first offshore law firms to establish a presence in London when it opened its office in 2002 and, since then, has played an important role in providing clients and contacts in the UK, Europe, Africa and Middle East with direct access to the firm's legal services. It is the only offshore law firm based in London to provide advice on Bermuda, BVI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey law and is ranked Tier 1 by The Legal 500 UK.
