Matthew is an associate in the dispute resolution and litigation team at Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited. His practice focuses primarily on litigation and arbitration in the corporate and commercial context.

Matthew has experience litigating a wide variety of commercial disputes, as well as securing injunctions and other orders protecting his client’s business interests. Some of Matthew’s recent experience includes litigating contract, insurance, debt, civil fraud, and corporate governance matters. That includes advising clients on corporate director and shareholder disputes, including in relation to oppression claims and other shareholder remedies.

Career

Prior to joining Carey Olsen in 2024, Matthew worked as a litigation associate in the Calgary, Alberta office of one of Canada's largest law firms, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. During that time, Matthew completed a secondment as in-house litigation counsel at a large Canadian oil and gas company in Calgary.

Matthew received his Juris Doctor (with distinction) from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. After graduating, Matthew completed a judicial clerkship at the Court of King's Bench in Calgary. Matthew also received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
