Tom is an associate in Carey Olsen's dispute resolution team in the Cayman Islands. He works across both the litigation and digital assets practice groups. 

With a strong foundation in commercial litigation, as well as a deep understanding of emerging blockchain technologies, Tom is well placed to assist clients in the De-Fi sector with regulatory investigations, stakeholder disputes, internal crises, project launches, and data issues. Tom also advises clients in capital markets on shareholder appraisals, contractual disputes and debt recovery proceedings, including liquidations and cross-border insolvencies.   

Tom has appeared before the Courts in several jurisdictions, including the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands, the Court of Appeal of New Zealand and the New Zealand High Court.

Career

Tom obtained an LLB with First Class Honours from the University of Victoria, Wellington. He also has a Bachelor of Arts. Tom is a practicing Cayman Islands attorney and has been admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand (non-practicing). 

Before joining Carey Olsen in 2022, Tom was practicing as a litigation attorney and criminal prosecutor in New Zealand. His caseload consisted primarily of matters involving allegations of fraud, inappropriate accounting, and white collar crime.
