Dispute Resolution Support (VA306)

We are seeking an individual to ​provide administrative support for a broad range of litigation matters. 

Litigation tasks:

  • File opening / elite set up / create hard copy files
  • Source judgements
  • Keep folders up to date with pleadings and client documentation
  • Proofread / amend documentation
  • Draft simple letters for serving and file documents, and prepare documentation as required
  • Carry out conflict checks
  • Prepare bundles & file them with court
  • Allocate Advocates or Legal Advisers to attend Police Headquarters
  • Liaise with States of Jersey Police and Customs & Immigration
  • Liaise with the Probation Service to follow up on probation / psychological / psychiatric reports
  • Book appointments / liaise with clients
  • Insert court dates into diaries & court list
  • Create exhibits & indexes
  • Arrange caselines access and uploading documents​

Assistance with Legal aid tasks as necessary:

  • Contact Magistrates Court and Youth Court to request papers, notes and client names, file duty notes and request credits from Legal Aid
  • Lodge calls with the Prison and book meetings with clients in custody
  • If required, request funds for and liaise with interpreters to book meetings
  • Advise Legal Aid of Advocate resignations and starts
  • Arrange interpreters where necessary & funds from Legal Aid from same

Candidates will have excellent organisational, analytical and IT skills, specifically excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Professional or Pdf Docs. They will be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision and have strong verbal and written skills.
