Carey Olsen counsel Joanna Caen sworn in as Guernsey Advocate

Carey Olsen is pleased to announce that Joanna Caen, counsel in the firm's trusts and private wealth team, has been admitted as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey.

After successfully completing the Guernsey Bar exams and the Certificat d’Études Juridiques Françaises et Normandes at the University of Caen, Joanna was called to the Guernsey Bar at a swearing in ceremony at the Royal Court on 10 February 2025.

Joanna has extensive experience assisting families, individuals, and trustees serving high and ultra-high net worth families with asset planning, philanthropy, family company structures, dispute resolution and mental capacity issues. 

Before joining Carey Olsen in 2022, Joanna was managing director of Praxis Hong Kong where she was responsible for providing trust and corporate services to clients throughout Asia and further afield. Prior to that, she led Herbert Smith Freehills' private wealth team in China. Joanna is qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England & Wales.
