Four Carey Olsen lawyers star in Asian Legal Business Asia Top Offshore Litigators List

This list identifies outstanding offshore law dispute practitioners who have successfully handled significant cases and exceeded client expectations.

James Noble TEP is Carey Olsen's head of litigation, insolvency and restructuring in Asia and leads the largest offshore litigation team in Singapore. Now recognised in the ALB Top Offshore Litigators list for four consecutive years, James is the only Cayman and BVI admitted (and Bermuda registered) litigation partner in Singapore. He regularly acts in market leading, complex and multi-jurisdictional cases and has specialist expertise in appellate matters in both the Court of Appeal and the Privy Council. James is consistently ranked by Chambers Asia and is recognised as a Leading Individual by Legal 500 Asia. He was most recently named as an INSOL Fellow, having completed the prestigious INSOL Global Insolvency Practice Course for 2023/2024 and is the author of the 2023 textbook "Commercial Litigation and Enforcement" published by the Global Legal Post.

Helen Wang is a partner in the litigation, insolvency and restructuring practice in the Singapore office. Helen specialises in complex offshore disputes and her expertise spans commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, and insolvency matters, particularly within the legal frameworks of Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, and Cayman Islands. Helen has been recognised by The Legal 500 Asia 2024 Guide as a Next Generation Partner and China Business Law Journal's 2023 A-List as a Rising Star. Jeremy Lightfoot leads the firm's litigation, dispute resolution and insolvency practice in Hong Kong. He focuses on high value and complex commercial and corporate litigation, as well as insolvency and restructuring matters under the laws of Bermuda, the BVI and the Cayman Islands. Jeremy is recognised as a 'Leading Individual' by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, is ranked in Chambers Asia Pacific Offshore Dispute Resolution Guide and has been named one of the Top 10 Offshore Litigators by Asian Legal Business since 2020. Matthew Watson is a partner in the firm's Hong Kong dispute resolution and litigation practice. Matthew is named in this list for the first time, having joined the firm's Hong Kong office a year ago. He brings on-the-ground Bermuda law expertise to clients in the Asia region having previously practiced in Bermuda for a substantial number of years. Matthew acts for high-net-worth clients and major corporations in insolvency and restructuring contexts often involving companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, shareholder disputes, fair value appraisal actions arising out of mergers, and complex trust and estate litigation under the laws of Bermuda.
