Carey Olsen Singapore counsel to speak at the New York State Bar Association International Section 2024 Global Conference
Carey Olsen Singapore counsel, Kate Lan, will be a panellist at the New York State Bar Association International Section 2024 Global Conference taking place in Seoul, South Korea on Wednesday 16 - Friday 18 October.
Kate will be speaking on the panel "Cross-Border Litigation for US and Korean Businesses and Practical Tips", taking place on Wednesday 16 October.
The panel will discuss the unfamiliar litigation landscape that U.S. and other foreign companies may encounter in Korea, as well as the challenges faced by Korean companies operating overseas in jurisdictions such as the U.S., Singapore, Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands, and the Cayman Islands. Insights including (i) pre-litigation strategies such as jurisdiction and forum selection, and choice of law issues; (ii) discovery and evidence gathering issues; and (iii) judgement recognition and enforcement issues, which may be similar or different in the jurisdictions mentioned will be shared during the panel session.
